Today Mike Laidlawannounced his departure from Bioware, where he's been involved with games including Jade Empire, Mass Effect and the entire Dragon Age series. In 2010, he was nominated along with BioWare cofounders Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk for a British Academy Video Games Award for Story for Dragon Age: Origins. Jade Empire's fan acclaim and Dragon Age: Inquisition's high Metacritic (89 on PS4) score? It looks like the party is over and they're taking away the balloons at BioWare tonight. In his 14 years at the studio, he worked on multiple RPG franchises, including Mass Effect and Jade Empire.

Laidlaw says that he's been lucky to work with so many talented and hardworking people, and that he looks forward to seeing where the studio takes the Dragon Age universe in the future.

Rishard Matthews says he'd quit National Football League if forced to stand for anthem
Rather than directing anger to the fact that protests still are happening, think of why they're still happening. Mathews told a News 4 producer that if a new rule is put in place, he will quit playing professional football .

"It's been an honour to be a part of the Dragon Age team, and I have every confidence that the world we've created together is in good hands and I'm excited for the road ahead".

Laidlaw didn't go into details regarding the reasons for his departure, and said that in the meantime he plans to spend some time 'reconnecting with all the fantastic games and worlds that my peers have created.' He'll probably be taking a well-earned break before moving onto his next endeavour.

Boyfriend of pregnant Maryland teacher indicted on murder charge
After his arrest, Tessier admitted to police that he was engaged to another woman at the same time that he was dating Wallen. Police found Wallen Sept. 13 in a freshly-dug grave on farmland in Damascus after she went missing over Labor Day weekend.

He doesn't get specific about any future plans, other than a desire to play some "amazing games" that his peers have created over the past few years.

To anyone who's taken the time to share feedback and experiences, your awesome cosplays and artistic creations: thank you. You've made my time "in Thedas" unbelievable. Considering he's been hard at work for 14 years, though, that's quite a backlog to go through. Laidlaw concludes by thanking the fans, cosplayers, and fan-artists for their passion and support.
