Boston finished 93-69 (.574) in 2017 to win its ninth AL East division title. Nine days later, the Red Sox were out of the postseason, eliminated by the Houston Astros in four games. However, the Red Sox also experienced its second-straight early exit from the playoffs.

The search for a new manager is on as the current head of the Boston Red Sox won't be coming back for the 2018 season. Whoever takes the reins of this team will have plenty to work with in 2018. We asked ESPN.com's David Schoenfield and Red Sox reporter Scott Lauber to weigh in on who might be the next manager.

Dombrowski declined to get into specifics about the move - or offer any substantive reasons for making it - during a 34-minute news conference at Fenway Park. "There are few, if any, positions in life that create so much passion on a daily basis".

"I remain forever indebted", Farrell said.

Houston Congressman Al Green has Introduced Articles of Impeachment Against Trump
Green has vowed to force a recorded up-or-down vote in his motion, even if Republicans seek to table it. His popularity is even waning among rural Americans , who have always been his most ardent supporters.

If anything, observing Farrell seems to have given Dombrowski an appreciation for the intensity of managing in Boston.

Farrell said after losing to the Astros that the team didn't meet its goals but had some good young players continue to develop.

The offense slumped after Ortiz retired, even though the team had baseball's third-highest payroll. The most discussed: Price's snapping at team broadcaster Dennis Eckersley on the team charter to Toronto on June 29.

Price was upset Eckersley didn't make himself available to the players after what they felt were critical comments about the team.

Donald Trump 'could visit demilitarised zone' between North and South Korea
The United States has a rotating squadron of long-range B-1 bombers stationed in Guam known as the "Continuous Bomber Presence". USA military leaders say North Korea has all the components but has not demonstrated it can put them all together effectively.

Dombrowski said he then made his decision to move on from Farrell.

Dombrowski reiterated that the organization was past that incident and said his personal relationship with Price is "fine". "I explained my thought process behind it [to ownership], and John basically said, 'That decision is up to you'". Regarded previously as a players' manager, there was a perception that he lost respect from some veterans who doubted he had their back.

Dombrowski is now able to appoint a manager of his choosing. "This is a great baseball city. But there's a lot of scrutiny.I think it's for some people and it's not for others".

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie to return to Giants
For a team that had Super Bowl aspirations heading into the year, the 2017 season has been a nightmare from day one. Anderson also reported that Rodgers-Cromartie said he was suspended "way before" he left the team.
