Kenya: Odinga's move to pull out of poll rerun, grab headlines

Fresh twirl as court orders IEBC to include Aukot in Oct 26 poll

Presidential election will go on, Kenya's Supreme Court rules

This month's vote was triggered after the August poll, in which Uhuru Kenyatta was declared victor, was over-ruled by the supreme court due to counting irregularities.

The opposition view is that a 2013 ruling by the Supreme Court means if any candidate withdraws, the IEBC must conduct fresh poll nominations, beginning the whole process over again.

The House, presided over by Deputy Speaker Moses Cheboi, passed the amendment barely a day after Raila Odinga, the National Super Alliance (NASA) coalition presidential candidate announced that he and his running mate were withdrawing from a repeat of the presidential elections.

To date, SpaceX has landed Falcon 9 first stages on 17 separate occasions, the latest being Monday's mission (Oct. 9th). It is a "dual-mission" satellite for the US-based operator EchoStar and Luxembourg-based operator SES.

The Supreme Court last month rejected the August election in which Mr Kenyatta was declared the victor after Mr Odinga challenged the results, saying hackers infiltrated the electoral commission's computer system to manipulate the vote in Mr Kenyatta's favour. "All indications are that the election ... will be worse than the previous one".

Mr Kenyatta, who called the Supreme Court judges "crooks" after their ruling, has said he does not want changes to the election commission. It is unclear if Aukot intends to continue his presidential run.

The electoral commission is expected to announce the way forward on Wednesday.
