As per police, Amazon grew suspicious after the refund request started originating from the same location in Delhi's North West region.

He would then ask the delivery person to meet him at another place or a shop to receive his order, following which he would call Amazon India customer care to make his claims.

Two men have been arrested for allegedly duping Amazon India by claiming every time "not received the product" and demanding a "refund" after receiving the items at false address.

Other than Shivam, a small telecom store owner Sachin Jain age 38 was also arrested because the store owner had supplied him almost 141 activated SIM for placing the order from Amazon. In March this year, just to check if the plan works fine, he ordered two phones, and when he asked for a refund for the two phones, he got the whole amount back.

Amazon India lodged a complaint in June this year alleging that an order for a total of 166 mobile phones had been placed this year by the accused, who would use gift cards to pay for the same.

Shivam used to sell those mobile phones on other e- commerce websites and at Gaffar Market in Karol Bagh, the police said. Since the addresses were incorrect, the delivery men failed to locate the address on the package and would call the accused for directions.

The police officials have recovered Rs 12 lakh in cash, 25 mobile phones and 40 bank passbooks during the investigations, Indianexpress.com reports. Subsequently refunds were initiated, they said.
