It was learned on Friday that the Fifth Circuit will hold an oral argument on Monday, Oct. 2, on the NFL's emergency motion for a stay in the case of Ezekiel Elliott, which means the Dallas Cowboys running back will be eligible to play at least the next two weeks (per Daniel Wallach). He loves to play sports and listen to music.

"As of right now, the preliminary injunction is intact and he is clear to play", National Football League executive vice president of communications Joe Lockhart said Friday in a conference call.

Originally suspended for six games by the NFL, Elliott has not yet missed any time this season after being granted a temporary restraining order on the NFL earlier this month.

Friday's news of an October 2 hearing means Elliott will play in weeks 3 and 4.

"The league's primary argument arises from the fact that Elliott filed his lawsuit before arbitrator Harold Henderson issued a ruling on the appeal of the suspension, making the entire case premature and preventing the Texas federal court in which the lawsuit was filed from acquiring proper jurisdiction over the dispute."

Elliott was neither arrested nor charged for the incident.

The NFL asked the 5th Circuit to rule by September 19 or September 26.

Dallas Cowboys running Ezekiel Elliott is still clear to play Monday against the Arizona Cardinals.

The NFL had previously indicated that it would not suspend a player past Tuesday of a game week due to game-planning concerns, but Lockhart's comments create more uncertainty for the Cowboys (1-1), who must now wait for the court to issue its ruling.
