Watch Rami Malek recreate iconic Live Aid performance as Freddie Mercury

The first footage of Rami Malek performing as Freddie Mercury in a Queen biopic has been released - and it's already set the internet alight.

The iconic actor, who cemented his bond with Queen forever with that moment in Wayne's World, is reportedly having a conversation about joining the Bryan Singer-directed movie, reports Deadline. But his career really took off after his 1992 film Wayne's World, which opened with Myers and co-star Dana Carvey rocking out to the Queen song "Bohemian Rhapsody". Lucy Boynton is to play Freddie's "Love Of My Life" muse Mary Austin.

Having left the film Del, a film about Del Close, the coach and mentor of numerous Hollywood stars, which has been put on hold for financial reasons, Mike Myers may be about to join the cast of another biopic.

Comedian Sacha Baron Cohen was attached to play Mercury before departing when May expressed concern that his prior roles in films like Borat and Bruno would distract from the film. Details are scarce about just who Myers will be playing.
