Rays set to 'host' Yankees in NY

Rays players met Tuesday before a designated home game at Citi Field in NY and voted to travel back to the Tampa area after Wednesday's game against the Yankees to check on the status of their houses and belongings in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma.

The Yankees prized trade deadline acquisition pitched just the second complete game of the season for NY.

The Tampa Bay Rays will fly home Wednesday.

The Rays finally solved Gray - who retired 12 of 13 between the first and fifth and nine in a row from the fifth through eighth - when Hechavarria laced a one-out homer deep into the left field seats.

Matt Holliday had an RBI double in the first inning for the Yankees. Gray swiftly worked out of trouble, striking out Adeiny Hechavarria and Kiermaier to end the threat. Gray was pumped up after punching out Kiermaier and you had the feeling that the tide was turning and the Yankees offense was about to get going.

Larry King reveals secret battle with lung cancer
King dedicated two weeks for recovery, but was quick to return to work soon after. "They took off 20 percent of the lung". I have beaten so many things health-wise to feel this good now.

"This time of year, you need to win series", Yankees manager Joe Girardi said after NY took two of three from the Rangers. Aaron Judge struck out three times, twice looking.

NY wasted a fantastic Gray start Tuesday evening and now must deal with one of the best strikeout artists in baseball in Archer. The weather was ideal, not hot enough to make the hulking pitcher burn out, not too cold to make him cool off. Girardi was sure to have a long chat after Sabathia was pulled, as he should, as the veteran left-hander will be a crucial cog in the Yanks' playoff drive. He must be hoping, though, as we all are that time coincides with the first start Gray gets in the playoffs. He is 0-2 with a 5.11 ERA for the Yankees and has yet to complete six innings in any of his five starts.

So how does Sonny have five losses?

Zach Britton blew his second save of the year, giving up three hits, a walk and two runs against the Blue Jays as the Orioles dropped their sixth straight. "We've got to do it".

Mookie Betts went three-for-five with two home runs, a triple, two runs scored and six RBIs in Boston's 11-1 victory over the A's.

Qatar, boycotters engage in heated argument at Arab League meeting
Muraikhi also hailed Iran as an "honorable country", adding that the Tehran-Doha relations had warmed since the blockade. The Islamic Republic has repeatedly underlined the need for dialogue between the Arab countries to settle the dispute.

Yankees: LHP Jaime Garcia is 0-2 in five starts since being traded from Minnesota to the Yankees. They need to give him the run support he needs to start winning his starts.

According to a spokesman for Major League Baseball, the game was still expected to lose money because of low ticket prices and other extenuating circumstances, including travel expenses for the Rays.

The Red Sox head into the final nineteen games of the season with a 3-game lead over the New York Yankees, who also have 19 games left.

Citi Field will be the site of a regular-season game not involving the Mets for the first time ever on Monday night, when the Rays and Yankees square off in the opener of a three-game series originally scheduled to take place at Tropicana Field before the set was relocated due to Hurricane Irma. Their playoff position, and ultimately their World Series chances, depend on it.
