JO 2024: It's official: Paris gets the olympic Games

The IOC's vote went as expected after months of moving toward an unusual dual award of the Games.

"This historic double allocation is a'win-win-win' situation for the city of Paris, the city of Los Angeles and the IOC", said IOC President Thomas Bach following the vote to approve the decision.

Many host cities, including Athens 2004 and Rio de Janeiro previous year, struggled to get ready in time for the Olympics and had to race to complete the venues, leading to higher costs and allegations of corruption in awarding contracts quickly.

Los Angeles will also receive up to $2 billion from the International Olympic Committee, which is up to $300 million more than it would have gotten for 2024.

The IOC has not officially approved the new deal but in its report on the 2028 bid, it said it had "no major concerns" with the agreement.

But when the MA capital withdrew over cost concerns, L.A. quickly stepped into what eventually became a two-city race with Paris for the 2024 Games. Only four have remained to the vote. The IOC also agreed to funnel any of its profits from the Games back to the city.

The Summer Olympics haven't taken place in the US since 1996 when they were hosted in Atlanta, though Salt Lake City hosted the Winter Olympics in 2002.

One board member is continuing to express misgivings, saying that the shops are illegal and should be closed quickly. The Medical Marijuana Licensing Board is expected to start issuing licenses in December.

The California metropolis will receive roughly Dollars 100 million more than Paris 2024 in International Olympic Committee funding for 2028, and will also benefit from a USD 180 million interest-free advance which means the city can begin to create a sporting legacy well before the Games take place in 11 years time.

The IOC sought to give the Games to France because Pierre de Coubertin, the founder of the modern Olympics, was retiring and wanted to have the Games in his home country.

Los Angeles last hosted in 1984 but now has 11 years to get ready for it's next big show. "I am confident that no matter where the Olympic Games would be held. baseball/softball would be a great part of the Olympic sports program". "The notion that " going to have the Olympics, one way or another" isn't necessarily true, as many opportunities still exist to intervene and stop them entirely".

It was two years ago that L.A.'s effort appeared to be over after the city lost to Boston in a competition to become the sole American bidder.

Measuring duration, the researchers clocked participants sitting , on average, for 11.4 minutes at a stretch. Exactly how prolonged sitting might be related to an increased risk of early death isn't known, he added.

Paris last hosted the games in 1924.

It'll be third time hosting the games for both parties.
