The first trailer for the Cambridge native's new film Downsizing hit YouTube early Tuesday morning, and while Damon and some of his co-stars are tiny, the laughs are not.

In an overpopulated world, Downsizing imagines that scientists have found an environmentally and economically friendly solution - shrinking people to 5 inches tall.

The series will feature modified Jaguar I-PACE cars, that will use the same circuit that the Formula E cars use over the weekend. The Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy, as it will be called, will be an "Arrive and Drive" racing series focusing on future electrification.

When you "downsize", a modest $52,000 translates to $12.5 million, which allows everyone to live like tiny kings. While the synopsis does say that their choice "triggers life-changing adventures", a lot of the trailer seems devoted to a sense of wonder and strangeness.

"Downsizing" recently premiered at the Venice Film Festival, where it received a mostly positive reception and, in quite a few cases, ecstatic praise. It is playing at the London Film Festival this October.

Directed by Alexander Payne and starring Damon, Kristen Wiig, Jason Sudeikis, Christoph Waltz, Hong Chau, and Udo Kier, the premise appears to be something akin to Honey, I Shrunk the Kids meets an Inconvenient Truth, with a satirical slant and a soundtrack featuring the Talking Heads.
