'The Bachelorette' makes her pick - and it won't surprise you

In his opening monologue Monday night, the late-night host revealed that he's been able to correctly predict four of the last five Bachelors and four of the last five Bachelorettes.

The couple said they had no date set in stone for their nuptials, but Rachel said 'winter of next year'. Bryan was still presented in the caddy and overly charismatic way that fans had come to expect (and loathe). Bryan makes her a Spanish-Dorkwad dictionary with words like "husband" and "lips" and "Big Rach". "You are so easy and effortless to love, and I just want to love you the rest of my life". And 10 minutes after we should have had love, we're sitting with a sad Peter, a potentially sad Rachel, and still no Bryan.

So that leads to Peter coming out, LIVE, to talk to Rachel because this season is a TRAGEDY. While we aren't sure who she'll pick in the end, we DO know that she's now in love and planning to get married.

"I wish you nothing but the best and I just really want happiness for you", Peter told Rachel, with her responding: "I swear I want the same for you". In her defense, boy, what show do you think you signed up for? Rachel wasn't down for that. I think that's because deep down I knew this was goodbye and I've never been good at breakups and breaking hearts.

Former LSU star Jarvis Landry under investigation for battery, Dolphins coach confirms
Landry also has an open paternity court case with Cerqueira, which her attorney describes as "very civil", according to Slater. This is now an opportunity for the Miami Dolphins to continue to hold off on extending the contract of Jarvis Landry .

Going into the finale, many thought Peter would end up the chosen suitor, but this season did not go quite as planned.

"I think I'll stick with Bryan", Lindsay replied before Kimmel opened the door to reveal his sidekick Guillermo holding a bouquet of roses.

Peter even offered to propose to appease her, and though she declined the suggestion, he believes she 'made the right decision in the end'.

Rachel and Bryan rode in a hot air balloon in Spain and he vowed to the cameras that he would propose to her. The fight between Peter and Rachel was raw but also a complete dismantling of what the show is about for its "contestants". Bryan and Rachel seemed to be on the same page about everything, however it was Peter that caused complications. Only time - or a putrid FreeForm reality series - will tell. And Peter agrees. This process might not be for him after all. Tell us in the comments or on Facebook! And so is Peter if he accepts. Rarely before Peter has it been deconstructed about what exactly that engagement means and how trivially the franchise honestly treats this big moment. I really, really was, and I really tried to fight it. We see him both pour his heart out and give a shocking revelation about Rachel's eyelashes during a first-of-its-kind live feedback during the finale.

The broad-based S&P 500 fell 0.4 percent to 2,466.18, while the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index tumbled 0.8 percent to 6,320.72. About 6.22 billion shares changed hands on US stock exchanges, slightly above the 6.15 billion average for the last 20 sessions.

So Peter, you'll be fine.

To all those critics out there who say The Bachelor/Bachelorette is a total scam, we have to ask you to click through the below gallery.

Things weren't great the last time we left Rachel, particularly with Peter. Peter answered the monk's questions nervously about needing to be with someone who you know is ideal for you. A 32-year-old savvy lawyer from Dallas who seemed to step into a season so hand-tailored to her liking that it lacked the ability to create the dramatic, emotional feel the show is known and loved for. Leave that to Eric.
