LFCC students win awards at regional forensics competition

Seven LFCC Forensics Team members received awards at the Collegiate Forensics Association Tournament held at Morgan State University on November 9-11.  As a team, LFCC placed 4th out of the 9 colleges and universities in attendance. 

The following individuals were recognized:

·         David Jezierski – 1st place in Parliamentary Debate, 2nd place in Informative Speaking, 2nd  place in Duo Interpretation;

·         Trey Bloomfield – 1st place in Parliamentary Debate;

·         Derek Thomas – 1st place in After Dinner Speaking, 3rd place in Duo Interpretation, 4th place in Parliamentary Debate;

·         Ron Anderson – 2nd place in Duo Interpretation

·         Debbie Baldwin – 3rd place in Duo Interpretation, 4th place in Parliamentary Debate;

·         John Riggs – 4th place in Impromptu Speaking and the Non-advancing novice award in Informative Speaking;

·         Kelsey Owens – 4th place in Poetry Interpretation, 5th place in After Dinner Speaking, Finalist in Informative Speaking.

Members of the team (with their locality of residence) included Ron Anderson (Strasburg), Debbie Baldwin (Winchester), Trey Bloomfield (Cross Junction), David Jezierski (Berryville), Kelsey Owens (Clearbrook), John Riggs (Woodstock),  and Derek Thomas (Bluemont).

In addition to LFCC, participating schools included Alderson Broaddus College, Bloomsburg University, Lafayette College, Malone University, Northern Virginia Community College, Randolph-Macon College, Towson University, and Wilkes University.
