LFCC accepting nominations for ‘Walking King’s Talk’ awards

Lord Fairfax Community College LFCC is accepting nominations for the Tenth Annual “Walking King’s Talk” Award.

To be eligible for the award, a nominee must make a significant contribution to the enhancement of human rights, civil rights, social action, and civility.  Nominations must be received by noon on January 9, 2013 in the Student Activities Office of the College’s Middletown Campus. 

The award will be presented to the recipient at the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration on January 21, 2013 at noon in the Carl and Emily Thompson Center of the Corron Community Development Center on the Middletown Campus.

In making the award, the College seeks individuals who best exemplify the following criteria:

1.     Are a resident of the counties of Clark, Fauquier, Frederick, Page, Rappahannock, Shenandoah, or Warren, or the City of Winchester;

2.     Are actively involved in improving human relations in his/her community;

3.     Exemplify the “peaceful” philosophy and faith of Martin Luther King, Jr. in the quest for improved human relations;

4.     Is an advocate of equal justice and opportunity for all people;

5.     Live a life of services and is a positive role model for others.
